Feb. 13, 2012 - EcoFest 2012 - March 4 at the ELC
The 16th Annual EcoFest Celebration at the Environmental Learning Center will take place Sunday, March 4th from noon to 4 pm. Gather up the family and head to the ELC for our Open House Extravaganza. Jan. 30, 2012 - Geocaching at the Environmental Learning Center
The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is introducing a new event that utilizes the popular Global Positioning System devices. The program, called “Geocaching”, is intended for families to share time with their children. Mrs. Rhodes-Ondi will show participants how to navigate the ELC campus using lifesaving, handheld GPS devices.

Jan. 20, 2012 - Green Living Workshops at the Environmental Learning Center
The ELC conducts Green Living Workshops in an effort to provide attendees with an opportunity to learn what they can do to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle. On Saturday, January 28, the ELC is conducting an Organic Chocolate Tasting from 3 to 5 PM. And a new “Organic Spa” green living workshop for adults will be held at the ELC from 1 to 3 PM on Saturday, February 11.

Exciting, beautiful, educational, and fun are words participants use to describe their boating experience on the Indian River Lagoon and St. Sebastian River. In addition to seeing wonderful scenery, including multiple bird species, fish rising to the water surface, and various kinds of native vegetation, many lucky boaters spot dolphins, manatees, and alligators in their natural habitat.

Nov. 1, 2011 - Environmental Learning Center Announces New Development Director
The ELC announces the recent appointment of Camille Yates as its new Development Director. Yates returns to the ELC where she worked earlier in her career. She states that “having worked for the ELC 15 years ago, it’s great to be back at my old stomping grounds. The place has really grown, both structurally and program-wise.”

The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is conducting a “Family Fun Hour” for families with children 4 to 7 years old from 10 am to 11 am on February 24, 2011. Lead by ELC Naturalist, Rosemary Badger, participants will explore a local beach to hunt for natural treasures, such as, hamburger beans, mermaids’ purses, sea hearts, golf ball beans, and more.

Jan. 13, 2011 - Boating with the ELC
The ELC offers guided trips on the Indian River Lagoon by kayak, canoe, and pontoon boat. The kayaks and canoes are quiet, maneuverable watercraft with shallow draft that provides opportunities to observe nature close-up. Each trip is lead by an experienced guide who gives canoe and kayak instruction. The pontoon boat excursions offer a relaxed way to observe a wide range of natural sights.
